Soft Tissue Therapy

Soft Tissue Therapy is a relatively new term that encompasses a range of hands-on therapies and techniques used alone or in combination to relieve problems in the soft tissues.

The soft tissues include muscles and the connective tissues – namely, fascia, tendons and ligaments.

Many top athletes and sports people receive soft tissue therapy on a daily basis to keep their body functioning and in top condition.  This may include Remedial/Sports massage, cupping, stretching techniques, EMMETT Technique, Bowen Technique and Acupressure to name a few.

Following her success at the 2012 Olympics, Jessica Ennis thanked her Soft Tissue Therapist during an interview for enabling her to perform at her absolute best on the day

It’s not just for athletes

Anyone can benefit from Soft Tissue Therapy regardless of their age, level of fitness, general health or condition.  A good Soft Tissue Therapist has a number of techniques at their disposal and knows which to choose to quickly and safely resolve the issue the client presents with, how much or how little pressure to apply when massaging and when, or if, it is appropriate to recommend exercises.
